Who we are

Pagination Associates consists of Howard Makin and Molly Mockford, who live in Lewes, East Sussex.  We both have backgrounds in computer programming, added to which Howard has strong graphical and artistic abilities, while Molly has all the technical expertise to turn his visions into hard code.  We are confident that between us we have all the skills necessary to design and implement the web site that you want.

One dictionary definition of “Pagination” is “... a method of computerized page makeup in which copy and graphic elements are manipulated with the aid of a video display terminal” - very appropriate to web design, we thought.

It is, of course, mainly a bibliographical term, which links to our interest in calligraphy, typography and page layout, and our determination to make every web site we write look both individual and striking.  Of course, it carries with it the mandatory punning reference to web pages, and it rhymes with imagination. All in all, it describes us very well!

We generally work for small or local businesses, organisations and charities, often those who have not up until now thought of having a website.  We ourselves are a small business, so we are not passing on VAT which a small firm cannot reclaim.  Principally, though, we like the personal touch, and thoroughly enjoy learning about our clients’ operations, which is essential to the successful design of a site tailored to their requirements.

You don’t have to be in Sussex, of course.  We will, if necessary, travel to see you for initial discussions, and in this electronic age much negotiation can be undertaken by email, fax and telephone.
